North Kiteboarding Designer Sky Solbach on the new CSC
“Just when you think you’ve got your magic board that can never be replaced, a new design comes along that really makes you question your perception. This past season was especially eye opening when developing our new CSC boards. What we are calling CSC boards have been around for a while, but have become really popular of late in the surfing world. In a nutshell, the CSC is a chopped down surfboard nearly symmetrical in outline (like a twintip) but with an asymmetrical (surfboard) rocker. At first glance, this may seem like a funky trend or a fun novelty concept, but when adapted to kitesurfing the CSC ‘s advantages are undeniable. Less nose (up to 6 inches less nose!) means less swing-weight and less windage when doing aerial rotations, which offers greater control. The compact shape lets you stand more centered on the board, giving you more balance in all situations and allowing you to have total control over the whole length of the board. A straighter rail line equals more stability in chop at high speeds and the flat rocker generates and carries speed, offering superior glide. But don’t take my word for it… grab a new Pro Series or Whip and see what all the fuss is about.” |
